About Resting Garden

A cemetery rooted in Islamic tradition, serving the Greater Princeton Muslim community with honor and compassion.

Beautiful, peaceful view of memorial park with rows of tombstones and blooming roses.

Serving Our Community with Honor

Resting Garden was established by the Muslim Center of Greater Princeton (MCGP) to fulfill a sacred obligation of our faith — providing a dignified final resting place for Muslims in our community.

Located in West Windsor, New Jersey, Resting Garden serves the Greater Princeton area and surrounding communities. Our cemetery is designed to honor Islamic traditions while meeting the standards and expectations of American cemetery norms.

We believe that every Muslim deserves a burial that adheres to the Sunnah: simple, dignified, and prompt. Our dedicated team works with families during their most difficult moments to ensure that their loved ones are laid to rest with the utmost respect and in accordance with authentic Islamic principles.

Resting Garden is more than a cemetery. It is a testament to our community's commitment to caring for one another in life and in death, following the teachings of our Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
Learn About Our Services

Islamic Burial Principles

Islamic burial practices are rooted in simplicity, equality, and respect for the deceased. At Resting Garden, we uphold these sacred principles in every service we provide.

Prompt Burial: Islam encourages burying the deceased as soon as possible, ideally within 24 hours. We work diligently to ensure timely arrangements while completing all necessary legal requirements.

Ghusl (Ritual Washing): The body is gently washed by members of the same gender in a prescribed manner, purifying it for its return to Allah.

Kafan (Shrouding): The deceased is wrapped in simple white cloth — three pieces for men and five for women. This symbolizes equality before Allah, as all Muslims are buried in the same manner regardless of worldly status.

Janazah Prayer: The community gathers to offer the funeral prayer, seeking forgiveness and mercy for the departed soul.

Qibla Orientation: The deceased is laid in the grave on their right side, facing the Kaaba in Makkah.

Simplicity: Extravagance is discouraged. We do not use caskets or elaborate decorations, honoring the Islamic ideal that all return to Allah in simplicity.
